As the successor to the Pax 3, the Pax Plus is discreet, durable, reliable and my new favorite hiking date. It’s the best date anywhere, really. Low maintenance and super sexy.

If you’ve been on the lookout for a combo of concentrate and dry herb vaporizer but aren’t sure about committing to the Pax Plus yet, I’ve got you. Here I’ll be going over all the juicy details.

Build Quality

It’s true that looks aren’t everything. But those that claim looks don’t count for anything are full of it.

Sleek and sexy, I love how smooth the Pax Plus is. We can thank its satin bead-blasted outer shell and soft matte coating for this.

The Pax Plus isn’t just stylish. It’s also sturdy. This vape is more durable than the grinder I’ve had for years. I even dropped it on my parent’s pool deck and it bounced like a basketball and survived without a single scratch.

Sexy and reliable, the Pax Plus comes with a flat and raised mouthpiece, standard and half-pack oven lids, a concentrate insert, a charging cable, a packing tool and a maintenance kit.

The mouthpiece is heat-resistant. The ocean lids are easy to change. The concentrate insert is made from aluminum, making dabbing extremely convenient…especially for those of us that may or may not be scared of torches.

The packing tool makes loading the chamber a breeze. And the maintenance kit makes the cleaning experience fairly easy.

The Pax Plus was designed with a mind of its own. It has haptic feedback, meaning it will vibrate when it’s ready to sesh.

Tactical, stylish and smart, the Pax Plus build really has everything you could possibly need while vaping weed.

Pax Plus On Next To Grinder And Weed

Vapor

The vapor you’ll get out of a Pax Plus is smoother than a hit from a freshly cleaned bong with ice inside.

In order to experience this legendary cloud of weed, you’ll first need to understand how to properly hit the Pax Plus. The company instructs to “sip it, don’t rip it” for good reason.

Pretend that you’re taking a sip from a hot cup of coffee when you’re hitting this vape. Don’t pretend like you’re hitting a bong. It won’t work. Trust me. I tried.

You’ll know once the vapor starts forming when you feel a little heat on your tongue. Inhale slowly until you’re ready to exhale. And just like that – boom, baby, you’ve got a cloud!

The cloud of vapor won’t be nearly as thick or smelly as smoke. I hit my Pax Plus all day while chilling at the pool and wasn’t victim to even one annoying complaint from my anti-marijuana neighbor.

I also wasn’t victim to a single coughing fit. Crispier than the fall days we all love, and somehow refreshing even with harsher strains, my lungs love Pax Plus.

Do remember that we’re talking about a conduction vape here. For a conduction vape, Pax Plus is amazing. It keeps most of the flavor and smell. But if you’re looking for really pure vapor, turn towards convection or hybrid vapes instead.

Capacity

Let’s get down to the real question…can Pax Plus hang when it comes to capacity?

In my professional stoner opinion, the Pax Plus can hang but it’s capacity isn’t the most impressive

The chamber holds a fairly decent serving. If you’re using the full-size oven lid, it holds around 0.5g of ground flower. If you’re using the half-pack oven lid it holds around 0.2g.

Although the chamber size may not be the best, don’t forget what’s important. It’s not the size of the chamber that matters, but how well you know how to use it.

Make sure to pack your flower down tight. This way nothing will get tossed around when you’re moving the vape.

There’s no need to worry if you prefer concentrates over flower either. Pax Plus works with different types of concentrates and dry herb.

Heating Element & Temp Options

My personal favorite thing about Pax Plus is its Experience Modes, whichbasically offer a tailored vaping experience.

You control the Experience Modes by pressing the power button (AKA the mouthpiece) for two seconds, release it, then press it again like normal. It takes the vape about 20 seconds to heat up once you set a mode.

The Pax Plus gives you less control over temp than over vapes, but the Experience Modes on this vape are convenient, fun and pretty spot on.

I tried out three of my favorite strains – MAC Cake (Wedding Cake X MAC), OG Kush and Oreoz – on each mode to see if there really is a difference.

The first mode is Stealth. You’ll know your Pax Plus is in Stealth Mode when the top petal of the LED lights goes purple. This is the lowest temperature mode at 360 ℉ – 380 ℉ and offers minimal vapor production and reduced haptic feedback for ultimate discretion.

On Stealth Mode, all three of the strains produced almost no vapor at all. This is a good mode to start on for your first sesh with the Pax Plus. Or if you’re staying at your grandma’s.

The second mode is Efficiency Mode. When you’re in Efficiency Mode the top two petals on your Pax Plus will light up teal. This mode puts the temperature between 350 ℉ – 400 ℉. It’s my personal favorite mode because it conserves the most amount of flower without abandoning quality vapor production.

I tried each strain on this mode and definitely noticed an increase in heat from Stealth Mode. I also got a few more hits out of each loaded chamber, so it was definitely efficient.

Pax Plus Switched On Next To Open Grinder

The third mode is Flavor Mode. It’s represented by three yellow petals and puts the temperature between 400 ℉ – 420 ℉. This mode uses on-demand heating to get the best flavor out of your product.

This one may be my fav. I could taste the vanilla undertones of MAC Cake and the intense woody taste of OG Kush. Oreoz was really the star here though. Sweet, creamy and a little spicy, I lingered on this mode a little longer than I probably needed to.

The fourth and final most is Boost Mode. This is the one to use if you’re using concentrates. It gives you maximum vapor delivery.

I don’t use concentrates a lot, but happened to have some THCA diamonds laying around, so I tried it out. I was surprised with how well the Pax Plus works with concentrates. It hit so smooth and was really easy to clean thanks to the 3D oven screens.

It also had me so high I lost my phone for over an hour. It was in my purse.

My best tip is to remember that the Pax Plus is really smart when it comes to temp. It’s trying to teach you via the LED lights.

It will flash purple as it heats up and stop on the color of the selected mode or on green to let you know it’s ready. It also has lip-sensing tech that knows the temp of the chamber and the temp of the air entering the oven.

Cool, right?

Charging & Battery Life

I love the Pax Plus battery.

The Pax Plus uses a 3000 non-replaceable lithium-ion battery. If it’s completely dead, it will take about 90 minutes to charge. Once charged, it will last you around 2.5 hours.

I really like that this battery has a Standby Mode. If you put your Pax Plus down and forget about it, the vape will automatically go into Standby Mode so you’re not wasting any battery charge.

You can check its charge by shaking the device. The PAX sign will then light up with one petal if the battery is at 25%, two if it’s at 50%, three if it’s at 75%, and four if it’s fully charged. If it’s flashing red it needs to be charged. Once fully charged, it will remain lit instead of flashing.

The charger that comes with the vape works via USB and it’s the same one as included in the older generation device, the Pax 3. I kinda wish this was a USB C but it’s a tiny thing.

Portability

Pristine puffing on the go, anyone? I’ve got some good news for you. Pax Plus is portable.

My Pax Plus fits right in the palm of my hand. And I have small hands. So unless you’re an actual child (please exit this site if you are), the Pax Plus is easy to hold with one hand.

It’s so easy, in fact, that it might just slip when it’s cold outside or if your hands are slick with something like lotion. Pax sells grip sleeves for those interested.

Rugged and reliable, the Pax Plus is perfect to bring on hikes, to the lake, camping or really anywhere outside. I brought mine on a 5-mile hike and it lasted me and my friend nearly the entire time.

Even if you do manage to break it, it has a 10-year warranty.

Discreetness

The vapor and smell that come out of a Pax Plus, especially when used in Stealth Mode, are less intense and dissipate faster than smoke.

The Stealth Mode combined with the sleek design, quick heat-up time and color-matching mouthpiece upgrade from the Pax 3 also help maintain a discreet vaping sesh.

While it’s highly discreet, it does smell like vaped weed when you’re carrying it around after use. To avoid this, purchase a smell-proof carry case for your Pax Plus.

You also have to grind the flower (medium to fine) and pack it pretty tight using the tool on the keyring. Don’t skip this step. If you do, your flower won’t be in close enough contact with the oven walls and won’t get heated evenly. Trust me. Using the packing tool changed the game (I initially skipped this step!).

The smell and the actual acts of grinding and packing can be a little tricky, but overall the Pax Plus is pretty discrete.

Is the Pax Plus Worth It?

Yes. After using the Pax Plus almost every day for the last couple weeks, I can honestly say I think it’s worth the price.

While I do still prefer smoking out of a bong at home, the Pax Plus is a great option when you want to smoke flower or concentrates on the go.

At the very least, it’s sleek, discrete and easy to use. I was also extremely impressed with the Experience Modes.

Some will probably argue that it doesn’t give you as much control as full temp spectrum vaporizers, but I actually prefer how simple Pax Plus makes it.

I also adore that you can dab with it. Yes. It’s not a rig and nor is it its best feature. But, damn is it handy!

While I don’t see myself using it at home very often for flower, I can definitely see myself picking the Pax Plus up at home for concentrates. It’s so convenient not having to take a torch out when I do want to dab.

Despite the price, the quality and the 10-year warranty make the Pax Plus worth it. Especially compared to the Pax Mini (you can see both side to side below, the silver one is the Mini).

The Pax Plus Isn’t For You If….

You Need Something Sub $200

If you (understandably) don’t want to spend a lot on a vape, you still have options.

Instead of the Pax Plus, check out the Pax Mini.

Think of the Pax Mini like the Pax Plus’ younger, slightly-less-athletically-talented-but-still pretty-good brother. The mini has the same heat-up time, is lighter, more compact and only costs $150.

But the Mini only has one Experience Mode instead of four. And it only comes with a two year warranty. This makes me not as willing to take the Mini out on hikes like I would the Pax Plus.

The Pax Plus also has double the chamber capacity. The Pax Mini only holds 0.25g of flower, while the Plus can hold 0.35.

Although cheaper, I personally think that the Experience Modes and larger chamber make the Plus worth it.   You can see the Pax Mini chamber below compared to the Plus (mini is on the right).

Pax Plus and Pax Mini Chambers Held Together

You Love Group Sessions

Pax does work for group sessions, but it’s not the best in class for this.

Because you can only fit up to 0.35g, your group sesh with the Pax Plus will be pretty short.

And you have to clean the oven in-between uses. The 3D oven screen admittedly makes cleaning pretty easy, but it’s still an extra step.

And if there’s a lot of you trying to get faded at once (which it isn’t really suited for), the battery might not hold up the entire sesh.

If group sessions are super important to you, check out the Mighty+ by Storz & Bickel instead. It’s a super dope vape device for getting high with your friends.

Sure the Mighty+ is pricey ($399) but it gets 80% charge in 40 minutes, you can use it while it’s charging and it has a ceramic-coated chamber for better flavor and heat-up times.

The Pax Plus is perfect for solo or even duo use but honestly just isn’t the most ideal for a true group sesh.

The Final Verdict: Pax Plus Dry Herb Vaporizer Review

For anyone that’s looking for a way to smoke dry flower or concentrates on the go, I would definitely recommend they check out the Pax Plus.
