What Is Delta 11 THC VS D9 and D10?
THC variants are taking over the cannabis scene. The newest kid on the block? Delta 11 THC.
Delta 11 has been making noise as a potent and long lasting high. But, is this variant really that good and how does it compare to good old D9 and D10?
Here we’ll give you a definitive guide on what Delta 11 THC is, where to get it and why it’s worth keeping on the radar.
Let’s dive into the world of D11 THC, the exciting lesser-known cannabinoid with promise. Keep reading for our favorite products containing D11 at the end too!
What Is Delta 11 THC?
Delta 11 (i.e. delta-11-tetrahydrocannabinol) is a rare, naturally occurring form of Delta THC.
You’re probably more familiar with Delta 8 or 9 THC. Delta 9 THC is the most abundant cannabinoid in (THC dominant) type 1 cannabis. Delta 11 is simply another type.
In fact, all forms of Delta THC have similar chemical structures. Insider knowledge: the number after Delta (i.e. 8 or 10) just refers to where the double bond is found on the carbon chain.
Like Delta 8 THC, Delta 11 is found in very small amounts in hemp and cannabis. However, extracting it is uneconomical due to the volume of hemp needed to make it worthwhile. Hence its rarity.
In cannabis products, Delta 11 THC is typically created through cannabinoid conversion, like Delta 8 THC. This involves a basic laboratory process in which another cannabinoid, like CBD, is turned into Delta 11.
Delta 11 THC is often considered a more potent form of Delta 9. The effects of Delta 11 are said to be quite similar to Delta 9, just more intense. D11 is also believed to be longer lasting in comparison.
However, Delta 11 THC has undergone very little research in line with its novel status. The variant was last studied in the 1990s via a preclinical in-vitro study.
11 Hydroxy VS Delta 11 THC
If you type Delta 11 into google, a lot of info regarding 11 Hydroxy THC will pop up. But these two compounds are very different things.
Yup. 11-HXY-THC does not equal D11 THC.
First, unlike Delta 11 THC, 11 Hydroxy THC is not naturally occurring. 11 Hydroxy THC is actually the result of Delta 9 THC being metabolized by the body.
From consumption to extraction, the Delta 9 THC is turned into Hydroxy THC and then converted into THC COOH.
This process usually occurs when you consume cannabis in edible form. When eaten, 11 Hydroxy THC is broken down by the liver.
While 11 Hydroxy THC is an active metabolite, Delta 11 THC is a slightly different form of Delta 9 THC. As a result, it sits at the beginning of the chemical process and turns into 11 Hydroxy THC if metabolized via the liver.

Delta 11 THC Benefits
Since there’s very little data on Delta 11 outside of the 1990 in-vitro study, we don’t know a lot about Delta 11 THC. Yet.
However, given the data we have regarding other forms of Delta THC (e.g. 8 and 9), we expect it to have similar effects.
It is assumed that all forms of Delta THC have similar potency. But it has been anecdotally reported that the Delta 11 THC high lasts longer and comes on faster.
Due to a lack of research we presume D11 may have similar medicinal benefits to Delta 8 and 9 THC, but this is to be confirmed along with the possible side effects.
Science suggests that THC offers the following therapeutic benefits:
- Reduce anxiety
- Reduce nausea
- Ease Stress
- Manage pain
- Reduce insomnia
- Ease anxiety
- Alleviate anorexia
- Help treat muscle spasticity
- Help treat glaucoma
Here are some of the common effects associated with THC:
- Euphoria
- Relaxation
- Intoxication
- Laughter
- Sedation
- Increased appetite
- Increased energy
- Altered sense of time
Note: these benefits and effects may vary from person to person.
Delta 11 Side Effects
Since Delta 11 THC is another form of Delta THC, we anticipate it to have similar side effects as its counterparts Delta 8 and 9.
Current research indicates that THC can cause temporary side effects.
Here are a few common side effects associated with Delta 8 and 9 THC:
- Tachycardia (increased heart rate)
- Dry mouth (colloquially called “cotton mouth”)
- Anxiety
- Memory loss
- Red or bloodshot eyes
- Paranoia
- Drowsiness
- Disorientation
- Panic attacks
- Reduced reaction times
Side effects are often a result of THC’s psychoactive properties. They should only be temporary and can also vary per person.
Delta 11 THC Products For Sale
Right now, there are very few Delta 11 THC products. This sheds some light on how new this cannabinoid is in the hemp market.
I was fortunate to try one of the only Delta 11 products on the market: Delta Extrax Live Resin vape carts. These Delta 11 THC vapes are formulated with a proprietary blend of Delta 11 THC, Delta 10 THC, and THC-H.
I also tried Delta Extrax’ HXY11 vape pens made with hydroxy-11-THC, Delta 10, and THC-H.
Here’s my take on the brand’s Delta 11 and 11 Hydroxy products and how they compare:
Delta Extrax Delta 11 Carts
Delta Extrax vape carts are infused with live resin and made with a one-of-a-kind blend of cannabinoids.
Each 2-gram cart is formulated with a unique mix of Delta 11 THC, Delta 10 THC, and THC-H.
Delta Extrax cartridges come nestled inside a plastic tube that’s securely packaged within a metallic paper box. This ensures the product arrives at your door safely and intact.
I tested the 24K Gold Punch Delta 11 Cart. All in all, it was straight fire.
From the taste to the effect, this Delta Extrax line delivered.
The 24K Gold Punch vape wasn’t harsh like a D8 vape, but you can expect to cough if taking a big puff. In terms of flavor, the live resin was tasty! With one hit, your senses are hit by sweet notes of tangerine and hints of pine.
I was also incredibly impressed with the effects. While the effects weren’t instant, I was stoned out of my mind in about 10 minutes.
After a few puffs, I felt markedly relaxed. My anxiety melted away, hit by hit. I all but forgot about the stressful day I endured.
The high itself was strong. Newbies beware! Though it took longer to kick in, the Delta 11 vape felt stronger than most Delta 9 vapes I’ve tried. The psychoactive effects were similar to eating an edible but less intense overall.
Delta Extrax Delta 11 cartridges are great for evening use. The long-lasting, potent stoniness will clear your calendar. Go slow and plan ahead when trying these vapes!
Delta Extrax HXY11-THC Disposable Vape Pens
Delta Extrax HXY11-THC vape pens are also infused with live resin, but the formulation is a little different.
Made with a proprietary blend of HXY11 THC, Delta 10, and THC-H. The disposable pens are also bigger at 3 grams total.
The vapes are snuggly packaged in a thick cardboard box decorated with metallic lettering.
Like most Delta Extrax products, the HXY11-THC line is full panel lab tested with the result posted on the product page.
I personally tried the Lemonade Kush live resin vape pen.
The flavors were insane. After the initial draw, you taste fresh squeezed lemonade with delicate earthy notes thanks to the kush genetics.
Impressively, the vape pen delivers a solid hit as well. I was blowing sizable puff clouds and wasn’t coughing my lungs out. The live resin was incredibly smooth!
Marketed as a sativa, the Lemonade Kush strain didn’t disappoint. Overall, it produced classic sativa-hybrid effects.
I was energized and uplifted instantly. Unlike the Delta 11 cart, the HXY-11 pen produced an immediate high.
The cerebral high had me flying in the delta clouds. I couldn’t resist the strong feelings of pure euphoria. In line with the Delta 11 carts, this pen also felt more potent than Delta 8 or 9 THC.
Go slow with these! I consider myself to have an extremely high THC tolerance, but more than a few hits of the HXY-11 pens would knock me on my backside.
Akin to taking a double shot of espresso, these vapes are an excellent start to a busy day. A few hits from the Lemonade Kush pen and you’ll be ready and eager to tackle the world.
Wrapping Up: D11 THC
Move over Delta 8 and 9 THC. There’s a new cannabinoid making major waves.
We don’t mean to diminish the other forms of THC. They’re great in their own right.
But Delta 11 THC has major potential for those seeking longer-lasting highs. While the research on this new cannabinoid remains limited, one thing is for sure. Delta 11 is on the rise.
Are you ready to climb aboard the novel cannabis train?
Frequently Asked Questions – Delta 11 THC
Is Delta 11 THC Legal?
It depends on where you live. Delta 11 THC that’s hemp-derived is considered federally legal if it complies with the 2018 Farm Bill, just like Hemp derived Delta 9. So Delta 11 products should be legal in theory if they meet the bill’s legal definition:
All-natural hemp-derived products must contain 0.3% or less of Delta 9 THC based on dry weight volume to be 2018 Farm Bill compliant,
Always check with the state you reside in to be sure. Some states have banned cannabinoids all together. Even those that are derived from hemp.
Does Delta 11 THC Show Up On a Drug Test?
Yes. Delta 11 THC will show up on a routine drug test.
Drug tests measure the presence of THC metabolites in the body. Though different forms of Delta THC have slightly different molecular structures, drug tests do not distinguish between them.
Can I Buy Delta 11 Products?
There are very few Delta 11 products on the market. However, online there are a few hemp brands that currently offer Delta 11 THC products for sale.
Are Delta 11 THC Products Safe for Human Consumption?
Products made with Delta 11 THC should be third-party lab tested and made by a reputable company.
As with any hemp product you buy, you should verify the corresponding COA. Independent third-party lab testing is the only way we can evaluate the safety of a product.
Lab reports show us if there are any harsh metals, dangerous chemicals or other foreign materials in cannabis products.
To be sure if THC products are safe for you to use, we always recommend checking with your healthcare practitioner first.
Does Delta 11 THC Get You High?
Studies on Delta 11 are very limited. But Delta 11 THC is considered to have similar psychoactive effects to other cannabinoids such as Delta 8 and 9.
So, in short, yes. Delta 11 gets you high. Depending on the individual, Delta 11 may feel more potent than Delta 9 THC.
Delta 11 THC may also take longer to take effect. Although, why is currently unknown as if inhaled it bypasses the first pass effect.
How Does Delta 11 THC compare to Delta 8, Delta 9, and Delta 10?
The jury is still out on this one. Due to insufficient research, we can’t know with certainty how Delta 11 differs from the more common THC cannabinoids.
Since they are all forms of THC we can assume that the effects may be similar.
It has been suggested that Delta 11 THC may produce a more potent high than Delta 9. D11 may also produce longer-lasting psychoactive effects.
Note that these assumptions are pending further testing and analysis.
